TORI AMOS TALKS ABOUT RAINN |
"A
lot of times you shut off your whole heart off from your
experience -- you close the door, and you wither and die.
My hope is that the RAINN hotline can be a bridge to the
next step. -Tori Amos, talking about how the RAINN hotline helps victims |

Tori Amos was one of the first
celebrities to go public about her rape when she released
"Me & A Gun" on her Little Earthquakes CD
in 1991. By writing and performing songs about her own experiences of being sexually assaulted, Amos struck a chord with her fans, who turned to her for help and inspiration. Realizing that she was ill-prepared to help them on her own, she helped form RAINN in 1994 by reaching out to her label, Atlantic Records, who provided the seed money for the creation of the RAINN hotline. Five years and more than 280,000 crisis calls later, Amos continues in her role as one of the leading celebrity spokespeople for the hotline. |
